It’s in the woods where my mind and body often meet
My feet in boots squish along the muddy trail
My arms spread wide to maintain balance over icy ground
My lungs bring nature’s air deep into my chest
My mind gets stuck in the mud
It tries to lure me back to solid ground
To live only within the safety of its limits
If left to my mind, sticks and stones will break my bones
Its thoughts could never kill me
My body tells another story
Its reveals the bruising of the minds internal chatter
My feet instinctively step forward
A check to my mind’s destruction
I take another breath
I find strength and balance as I navigate nature’s playground
As I trust my body’s movement
My mind begins to clear
In their meeting I recognize my power, curiosity, and wonder for the trail
I head into the woods
